Meet 32 year-old Whitney Pozgay – brains and eyes behind the 4 year-old label Whit – quirky, whimsical, printed perfection. Often using her travels as inspirations for her collections, she’s not just a beauty (signature top knot, fresh face, red lip) but inherited a blessed eye and knack for all things fashion from (aunt) Kate (Spade).

Mish-mash of excerpts from the many interviews Ms. Pozgay has given:

Raised/Currently dwelling/ Honeymoon-ed?
Arizona/ Brooklyn, NYC/ St. Lucia

Attempted at?
Costume designing, Kate Spade’s cold weather accessories and re-launch of apparel, lead womens designer at Steven Alan (Steven Alan x UO, Steven Alan x Uniqlo)

The signature thing for Whit is…
a bold print. and every season the theme of that bold print changes. we also always have a strong knit stripe program. stripes are my favorite neutral.

Spring nail polish shade?
“Butler Please” from Essie is the best bright blue for toes! It’s really saturated and looks rad with a tan.

What’s your dream destination for a spring break?
I have always wanted to go to Indonesia. This April, we are finally headed to Bali. We’re going to scour the island for inspiration for our Spring 2014 collection. There’s so much to explore, from spending time with the craftsmen who produce amazing traditional textiles, to hiking to the terraced rice fields, volcanoes and temples, to experiencing the rich culture during the colourful religious ceremonies that will be taking place while we’re there.

The most valuable thing aunt kate (spade) taught me….
was to not be afraid to edit, and to trust my gut.

And her live-by rule of stripes:
“I’m a sucker for stripes,” Whitney said. “I love a good French stripe t-shirt to wear with basically anything…I almost approach them as a neutral. I think they go with everything.

Ditto to that, Whitney (; Mustard & mint loves our stripes and consider them timeless staples, anytime, anywhere.
